IGNITION SPARK GAP

9When checking the spark gap, do not
touch any of the connections of the spark
gap tester lead wires.
9When performing the spark gap test, take
special care not to let sparks leak out of
the removed spark plug cap.
9When performing the spark gap check,
keep flammable gas or liquids away,
since this test can produce sparks.
1. Check:
9Ignition spark gap
Less than specification
® Continue to
check the ignitor ass’y output.
Checking steps:
8 Remove the spark plugs from the
engine.
8 Connect the spark plug cap to the
spark gap tester.
8 Set the spark gap length on the
adjusting knob.
8 Crank the engine and observe the
ignition system spark through the
discharge window.
