T.C.I. air gap adjustment
1. Remove:
9Recoil starter ass’y
2. Measure:
9T.C.I. air gap
Use feeler gauge as shown (away
from the magnet).
Out of specification ® Adjust.
Adjustment steps:
1. Loosen the bolt 1 and 2, insert the
feeler gauge 0.4 mm (0.016 in).
2. Adjust the T.C.I. air gap a and b be-
tween core of ignitor ass’y and fly-
wheel rotor ass’y by moving the igni-
tor ass’y push. (gap a = gap b)
3. Keep the specified air gap by the feel-
er gauge and tighten the both bolts.
T.C.I. air gap:
0.4~0.6 mm (0.0157~0.0236 in)
Bolt:
10 Nm (1.0 m•kg, 7.2 ft•lb)
2. Check:
9Spark timing
Beyond the firing range. (dent on ro-
tor) ® Check the ignition system or
replace ignitor ass’y.
Checking steps:
8 Warm up the engine and set it at the
specified speed.
8 Direct the timing light toward the fly-
wheel rotor ass’y 1.
8 Visually check the stationary pointer
2 to verify it is within the required fir-
ing range 3 indicated on the flywheel
rotor ass’y.
Engine idling speed:
1,500 ± 50 r/min.
3. Adjust:
9T.C.I. air gap
Use feeler gauge to set as shown.
