Monitor Test (for EtCO
2
Option)
Tools Needed: CAPNOSTAT 5 Mainstream cable with airway adapter, or CAPNOSTAT 5 Sidestream cable with cannula.
Test Setup:
1. Install the battery.

Connect the CAPNOSTAT 5 CO2 Mainstream
cable with airway adapter attached, or the
CAPNOSTAT 5 Sidestream cable with the
cannula attached, to the yellow connector at the
back of the E Series.
The airway adapter (for Mainstream) or the cannula (for Sidestream) is
installed in the CO
2
cable.
Set the front panel switch to MONITOR or ON.

or AED units, enter Manual Mode.
The E Series monitor displays the WARM UP message.
When the WA
RM UP message disappears,
press the Param softkey, then select EtCO2
and press Enter.
Press the ZERO softkey, then wait for the
ZERO DONE message to appear.
The E Series monitor displays the ZERO DONE message.
Press the Return sof
tkey, then press the ï€
Wave 2 softkey until the CO
2
waveform
appears.
A flat baseline CO
2
waveform appears.
Breath normally into the airway adapter. A capnogram waveform appears.
Record your results on the Mai
ntenance Tests Checklist.
