If you suspect that you don't have the latest software, you can make a manual
software update call by pressing the three buttons "SHIFT, SYMBOL and EMAIL
together on the keyboard. You will see the message Dialling for software
update displayed. Please wait while the
e-m@iler detects whether there's new
software to be collected. If there is, then the message will change to Receiving
software update V?? (as shown on the previous page). If there isn't a software
update, then the
e-m@iler will return to the standby screen after a few seconds.
& If you look on the list of email messages after a software update, you will find
that it contains a waiting outgoing message such as
emailer-
updates request D??. The outgoing message sent by the
e-m@iler is to
request information on the new software update. This will be emailed back
to you only if required (to save you the email cost). Note – if you delete the
outgoing message before it has been sent, you will not receive any update
information back.
Occasionally, two or more software updates may be received on successive
nights. This is particularly likely to happen if the e-m@iler is new or has recently
been left switched off for a long period.
Each software update you receive may be followed by an explanatory email message
as described above. The message itself will be entitled: RE: emailer-updates
request D??. (Note that the D number corresponds to the V number.)
If you wish to check the V number of your e-m@iler (the Main software
version), press SETUP followed by 1. (When you've checked the
V number, press STOP twice to return to the standby display.)
To obtain a repeat email copy of information on past updates, send a message to the
following email address:
update-info@amserve.ltd.uk
Note, in the Subject: box of your message, make sure that you quote the
D number(s) for the information you require, for example: Please send me
D9. information again.
Do not send any other correspondence to this email address.
