Surfing the internet
Amsurf opens up the world of the internet to your
e-m@iler. With Amsurf Internet you can 'log on' to
one of many low-graphics web sites available.
Amsurf Internet is specifically designed to view low-graphics internet web sites but can
also be used to view normal web sites. Note, however, some web sites are quite
complex and will therefore offer limited viewing ability.
Nevertheless, Amsurf Internet gives you access to a vast library of online 'pages' to
browse – from news and weather to sport, from finance to the latest in music and
entertainment – there's virtually an endless mine of information for you to explore.
Before surfing for the first time, make sure you've read the sections
'Conditions for Amserve' on page 155 and 'Amsurf Internet End-User Licence
Agreement Terms' on page 157.
What is surfing?
Many thousands of companies and individuals have set up web sites on the internet.
These sites contain millions of pages of information and entertainment that can be
displayed on your e-m@iler screen. The expression "surfing the internet” simply
describes the action of visiting various sites and viewing their contents.
You can check the surfing charge any time on the SERVICES menu – look
under
ONLINE LINKS / AMSERVE LINKS / E-MAILER SERVICE
CHARGES.
Press the INTERNET button to start surfing. (Note that the e-m@iler won’t
go online until you specify a web site or page.)
IMPORTANT – PARENTAL WARNING
If you have children, it is your responsibility to prevent access by them to web
sites that are suitable for adults only. Note that it is also your responsibility to
prevent them incurring telephone charges and other costs that you are
responsible to pay.
To prevent unauthorised use of Amsurf, use the parental lock (information on
page 93).
