Caller Display
If you have subscribed to a Caller Display service, you will see the caller's number
displayed when the phone rings.
If the call is from a number you've programmed in
the Address Book memory (described on page 42),
then the caller's name will also be displayed, for
example (right):
If the call is not from a number in the Address
Book, the message Unknown caller will be
displayed after the number.
♦ Note you can paste* the caller's number into the Address Book. Using the
keyboard, press STORE together with HOME (or OFFICE or MOBILE). This
opens a new Address Book entry with the caller's number pre-inserted. Type in the
entry name and press STORE. (Storing information is on page 43.)
*Paste facility available only if you subscribe to Caller Display and the caller's number
is displayed.
Bear in mind that some callers may choose to withhold their number from Caller
Display. Additionally, certain numbers cannot be detected (for example, calls from
abroad or from a switchboard extension). In such cases you will see the message
Number unavailable or Number withheld displayed. (See also 'Caller Display
on local calls' on page 50.)
Cable network
Some Cable networks offer a Caller Display service. If you subscribe to a Cable
network, press SETUP, 2, 4 to change the Telephone service setting to
● Cable, then press STORE followed by STOP.
(If you don't subscribe to a Cable network, leave Telephone service set to ● BT.)
