Setting up for use
The e-m@iler offers many setup options covering all aspects of operation from display
brightness to personal user settings. These setup options are described in the chapter
entitled 'Advanced settings' (page 119) and can be carried out later.
For now, you need only carry out the registration process in order to be able to start
using the
e-m@iler straight away.
Registration must be carried out when you first set up the e-m@iler. Although
registration will take ten minutes or so, it's a straightforward process and should only
need to be carried out once in full. The purpose of registration is to set up an account
between you and the Email Service Provider, which is like a worldwide sorting office
for email, handling thousands of messages every second. Your Email Service Provider
is Amserve.
Email is delivered to an email address (an example of an email address is
danny-boy@amserve.com). In the same way that anyone wishing to phone you
needs your telephone number, people who wish to email you require your email
address. This address is set up during registration and identifies you personally as an
email user.
Before starting registration, please read the section entitled 'Conditions for
Amserve' on page 155. During registration you'll be asked to confirm that you
accept these conditions – if you don't accept them, you will not be registered
and you will not be able to use the e-m@iler.
