3-3 Tracking Generator (Option 20) Verification
The tests in this section verify the performance of the built-in tracking generator in the MS2721B Spectrum
Master. This test section has two parts:
• Frequency Accuracy Verification
• Power Accuracy Verification
Required Equipment:
• Power Meter, Anritsu Model ML2438A
• Frequency Reference Symmetricom Rubisource T&M
• Frequency Counter, Anritsu Model MF2412B
• Power Sensor, Anritsu Model MA2442D
• Spectrum Master Model MS2721B
Frequency Accuracy Verification
1. Connect the external 10 MHz Reference to the frequency counter. Do not connect the external 10 MHz
signal to the MS2721B.
2. Set the MS2721B to Spectrum Analyzer mode and then preset the instrument.
3. Set the Center Frequency to 1.0 GHz, and set the Span to 0 Hz.
4. Press Shift, then press the Measure (4) key, and then press Tracking Generator.
5. Press Track Gen to toggle the tracking generator ON.
6. Press the Output Power soft key to set the tracking generator to 0 dBm.
7. Connect the frequency counter to the Gen Output connector of the MS2721B.
