3-7 GSM/GPRS/EDGE Signal Analyzer (Options 40 and 41) Verification Performance Verification 2
3-38 PN: 10580-00177 Rev. D MS2721B MM
EDGE Burst Power, Frequency Error and Residual Error Tests
Test Procedure:
1. Verify that the equipment settings are unchanged from the previous test.
2. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to "DL_MCS-9_1SLOT".
3. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads 50 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Then wait 15 seconds
to allow the MS2721B to update its measured results.
4. For an MS2721B with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), subtract the displayed Burst
Power value from the power meter reading in Step 3. Then record the calculated Burst Power error and
the displayed value of Freq Error in Table A-80, “At 1800 MHz, –50 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_1SLOT
Pattern, Option 40” on page A-29.
5. For an MS2721B with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed EVM (rms) in
Table A-88, “EVM RMS at 1800 MHz, –50 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_1SLOT Pattern, Option 41”
on page A-31.
6. Verify that the measured values in Step 4 and Step 5 are within specifications.
7. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to "DL_MCS-9_4SLOT".
8. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads 10 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Then wait 15 seconds
to allow the MS2721B to update its measured results.
9. For an MS2721B with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), subtract the displayed Burst
Power value from the power meter reading in Step 8. Then record the calculated Burst Power error and
the displayed value of Freq Error in Table A-81, “At 1800 MHz, –10 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_4SLOT
Pattern, Option 40” on page A-29.
10. For an MS2721B with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed EVM (rms) in
Table A-89, “EVM RMS at 1800 MHz, –10 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_4SLOT Pattern, Option 41”
on page A-31.
11. Verify that the measured values in Step 9 and Step 10 are within specifications.
12. Change the frequency of the MG3700A to 850 MHz.
13. On the power meter, press the Sensor key, the Cal Factor soft key, and then the Freq soft key. Use the
keypad to enter 850 MHz as the input signal frequency, which sets the power meter to the proper power
sensor calibration factor. Press the System key to display the power reading.
14. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads 50 dBm ± 0.2 dB.
15. On the MS2721B, set the Center Freq to 850 MHz. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS2721B to update
its measured results.
16. For an MS2721B with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), record the displayed values of
Burst Power and Freq Error into Table A-82, “At 850 MHz, –50 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_4SLOT Pattern,
Option 40” on page A-30.
17.
For an MS2721B with Option 41 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Demodulator), record the displayed EVM (rms) into
Table A-90, “EVM RMS at 850 MHz, –50 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_4SLOT Pattern, Option 41”
on page A-31.
18. Verify that the measured values in Step 16 and Step 17 are within specifications.
19. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to "DL_MCS-9_1SLOT".
20. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads 10 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Then wait 15 seconds
to allow the MS2721B to update its measured results.
21. For an MS2721B with Option 40 (GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF Measurements), record the displayed values of
Burst Power and Freq Error into Table A-83, “At 850 MHz, –10 dBm Level, DL_MCS-9_1SLOT Pattern,
Option 40” on page A-30.
