Enabling or disabling a port
Enable or disable a port with ACLI
Important:
You can disable switch ports that are trunk members, if you choose to disable them one by one.
If you choose to disable all ports of the unit or stack, the changes can affect the ports belonging
to MLTs.
Procedure
1. Enter Interface Configuration mode:
enable
configure terminal
interface Ethernet <port> or interface vlan <1–4094>
2. At the command prompt, enter the following command:
[no] shutdown [line <portlist>]
Example
The following figure provides a sample of the output of the shutdown [port <portlist>]
command.
switch(config-if)#shutdown port 6
Variable definitions
The following table describes the parameters for the shutdown [port <portlist>] command.
Variable
Value
port <portlist> Specifies the port numbers to shut down or disable.
Enter the port numbers you want to disable.
Important:
If you omit this parameter, the system uses the
port number you specified in the interface
command.
no Specifies the port numbers to enable. Enter the port
number you want to enable.
Important:
If you omit this parameter, the system uses the
port number you specified in the interface
command.
