F-FEM-DDC — User’s Guide
3.3.3
IEEE1394 Wiring
This section addresses particularly electrical engineers, electricians and
commissioning engineers as well as service engineers and it describes the
necessary information, the "dos and don'ts" about planning and working out the
IEEE1394 bus for an F-FEM network.
Working with the IEEE1394 cables requires basic knowledge in working with
electrical installation and cables and wires treatment.
3.3.3.1
Cable Design
*) Use this cable for module mounted close together.
**) Two adapter pieces EX0709 (0.25 m) are necessary for cables 15, 20, and 30
m (see Fig. 8):
NOTICE
For the power supply cabling please take into account the current you use at the
digital I/O-connectors X41 …X54. This can be a total of 4 A per module.
NOTICE
Due to the high-speed data transfer on the IEEE1394 bus the wiring must be
done with appropriate care!
NOTICE
For wiring the IEEE1394 bus on the AVL F-FEM, please only use the special
cables! (See Tab. 5 on page 24.)
Other cables from other manufacturers or office supply or multimedia stores
must not be used, as these would lead to various network problems!
