As the accuracy of all measuring devices degrades over time and use, regular calibrations
are highly recommended. The BCS-CAL is an automated calibration kit for the BCS-8xx se-
ries. It has been designed to perform fast verification and calibration, and outputs NIST
traceable certificates.
The kit allows to calibrate channels to factory specifications in less than 30 minutes. Software
automation ensures calibration is performed exactly the same way by multiple operators in
multiple locations, and over time. It improves quality of your results, reduces errors and
standardizes methods.
9.2 Data saving
Problem: Data cannot be saved from a given channel (this channel status appears in yellow
in BT-Lab
, and the program displays an error message while attempting to save data):
Solution(s):
- ensure that the saved file has not be moved or destroyed, or opened by another applica-
tion,
- if the saved file is on a network drive, ensure that you have the right to write data into the
same directory (create and destroy a text file). Otherwise see your network authoriza-
tions…,
- in BT-Lab
, select File, Repair... Then select the saved file and click on the Repair but-
ton,
- ensure that the computer’s IP Address has not been modified since the beginning of the
experiment,
- if the problem persists, contact us.
9.3 PC Disconnection
Problem: The PC is disconnected from the instrument ("Disconnected" is displayed in red on
the BT-Lab
status bar):
Solution(s):
- check the PC – instrument connection,
- direct connection: verify that Ethernet cable is plugged in at both ends,
- network connection: verify that the yellow LED is blinking on the instrument front pan-
el and that you can access your network directories from the PC,
- check that the green LED in the BCS-COM module is blinking (this assumes that the
communication module is running properly),
- in the Tera Term Pro window type "r" or "R": this will restart the Ethernet connection pro-
gram that is a part of the instrument firmware,
WARNING: this operation is not a simple task, so proceed like this only in case of trouble.
- if the problem persists, contact us.
9.4 Effects of computer save options on data recording
Battery cycling often requires a long duration. During the experiment, the computer should
always be able to record the data points. If the user has enabled the power save option for
their hard disk, there is a risk of being unable to record the data points. In order to avoid that
risk, we advise the user to turn off all power save options for the computer in the settings
panel. If the connection between instruments and computer is lost for a certain time (time
depends on your tests, records…), a loss of points is possible.
