2 Introduction
The Sample Automation XYZ sample changer is designed to be sturdy, reliable, and easy to
use. It provides automated temperature control and pick-and-place sample introduction for an
analytical  instrument  such  as  an  NMR  spectrometer.  The  sample  changer  contains  a
microprocessor that allows sequential or random access to samples, providing flexibility.
The  sample  changer  is  typically  interfaced  to  and  controlled  by  the  host  computer  using  a
USB or serial connection.
This document describes the procedures for installing, operating, and maintaining the sample
changer. It also provides information about troubleshooting minor problems and describes the
design of the sample changer.

The  primary  audience  for  this  manual  consists  of  analytical  chemists  and  laboratory
