76 SECTION 27 - REAR AXLE
Insert the shim (2) on the pinion (1) with the chamfer
against the gear.
Press the bearing (3) into the pinion, making sure
that it is well set.
Insert the shims (4) and (6) and the spacer (5) into
the pinion (1).
Insert the pinion (1) into its seat in the central body
housing and the bearing (7) into the pinion end.
Insert a new washer (8) and a new ring nut (9).
Screw the ring nut in, using the wrench 380000406
for ring nut and for pinion retainer.
SWARNING
The torque setting is given by the preloading meas-
urement on bearings.
