BACKGROUND COMMUNICATIONS
The Multi-Axis Control will allow background com-
munications using the Kermit transfer protocol. The
Kermit file transfer protocol is packet based which
provides excellent error rejection and recovery. This
allows error-free file transfer in the noisy shop floor
environment. The control implements both CLIENT
and SERVER modes of operation, allowing file
transfers to be initiated at the control or host com-
puter. The host computer can send or receive pro-
grams and also retrieve a directory of programs
stored in internal memory. Background communi-
cations can be done while the machine is cycling.
