FM CONTROL STATION
CONTROLS: Two keyswitches are located under
the CONTROLS heading and are marked
SUPERVISOR and OPERATOR. When the
SUPERVISOR switch and the OPERATOR switch
are in the “ON” position, all functions on the
control can be changed. When the SUPERVISOR
switch is in the “OFF” position, it is not possible
to change any of the six button selector key set-
tings on the left hand of the control face.
When the SUPERVISOR or OPERATOR key is
OFF, all program values are guarded and no pro-
gram can be loaded, stored or altered.
When the OPERATOR switch is in the “OFF”
position, all functions are deactivated and the
ram and optional gage cannot be cycled with any
operator control, even though the main drive
motor may be running. When the OPERATOR
switch is ON and the control properly set, the
machine can be cycled.
OPERATOR STATION: One palmbutton operator
station is furnished as standard equipment and
is connected to the OPERATOR STATION RIGHT
selector. In the “OFF” position, the ram cannot
be cycled by the palmbutton operator station. If
two operators are required, an optional second
Operator Station connected to the OPERATOR
STATION LEFT selector can be set up and
switched ON. Pressing the OPERATOR STATION
pushbutton will alternately select the “OFF”,
“RIGHT”, “LEFT” or “BOTH” positions. The indi-
cator beside each position will be illuminated to
verify the position selected.
The ram will move when all active palmbuttons
are pressed at the same time. It will stop on the
down stroke when any one palmbutton is
released. Before the ram will resume the down
stroke, all palmbuttons must be released and
depressed again. The ram will stop on the up
stroke if AUTO RETURN is off and any palmbut-
ton is released.
Anti-tie down logic is included for the palmsta-
tions to ensure that both palmbuttons on a
Palmbutton Operator Station must be pressed
within one second to initiate ram movement.
FOOTSWITCH: One footswitch is furnished as
standard equipment and is connected to the
FOOTSWITCH RIGHT selector. In the “OFF” posi-
tion, the ram cannot be cycled by the footswitch.
Changing the selector to “RIGHT”, “LEFT” or
“BOTH” permits the ram to be cycled by the
footswitch(es) in SINGLE STROKE mode of oper-
ation. If two operators are required, a second
optional footswitch connected to the
FOOTSWITCH LEFT selector can be set up and
switched ON. The operation of multiple
footswitches is explained in the various SINGLE
STROKE modes of operation later in this section.
Pressing the FOOTSWITCH button will alter-
nately select the “OFF”, “RIGHT”, “LEFT” or
“BOTH” position.
The OPERATOR STATION and FOOTSWITCH
selector buttons will only toggle between OFF
and RIGHT if the second operator station and/or
footswitch are not installed.
MODE SELECT / AUTO RETURN: These two
pushbutton switches are used to select the
stroking mode of the machine.
MODE SELECT:
OFF - The machine cannot be cycled.
SETUP - A setup mode which allows the ram to
be operated by the palmbuttons or RAM UP but-
ton on the Palmbutton Operator Station. The
ram will move down in medium forming speed
with the palmbuttons and stop when the con-
trols are released. The ram will move up in medi-
um return speed only if the RAM UP button is
pressed. Maximum tonnage in this mode is lim-
ited to 10% of the machine capacity. Down
motion will be limited by the minimum allowable
down position (closed height). The programmed
reversal position has no effect in SETUP. Up
motion will be limited by the maximum up posi-
tion. The programmed top stop position has no
effect in SETUP. All of the above limits will stop
motion without indicating an error.
The SETUP selection automatically switches the
FOOTSWITCH to “OFF” and the OPERATOR
STATION to “RIGHT” palmbutton operator sta-
tion. This is a convenience feature so it is not
necessary to change the settings every time
SETUP is selected. When exiting SETUP, the
FOOTSWITCH remains set to “OFF” and the
OPERATOR STATION is set to “RIGHT”.
SINGLE STROKE - This is a production mode
that can be operated by palmbuttons,
footswitches or a combination of palmbuttons
and footswitches. To use only the palmbuttons,
the OPERATOR STATION selector switch on the
Control Station must be in the “RIGHT’, “LEFT”
or “BOTH” position and the FOOTSWITCH selec-
tor switch must be in the “OFF” position.
To use only footswitches, the FOOTSWITCH
selector must be in the “RIGHT”, “LEFT” or
“BOTH” position and the OPERATOR STATION
switch must be in the “OFF” position.
