I. Core Receiver Assembly (CRA) Description
The CRA (Figure 8) accepts the RF signals from an external active antenna through the connector J2.
The antenna must be compliant with RTCA/DO-301 per TSO-C190 for class 2, 3, or 4 operation. It
contains its own RF pre-amplifier, which is powered by a 9 VDC ± 20% power supply in the Core
Receiver Assembly through the center conductor of the coaxial antenna cable. The CRA monitors
continuously the presence and health of the remote antenna and of the antenna cable via DC continuity
tests.

The CRA consists of:
- One HIS (described in (J) below)
- A high-accuracy 10 MHz crystal clock.
- A Radio-Frequency (RF) super-heterodyne receiver, tuned to the nominal GPS/SBAS carrier
frequency L1 (1.57542 GHz). Its wide bandwidth (18 MHz nominal) allows processing the full RF
spectrum of GPS satellite signals, thus enhancing the navigational accuracy. The first Intermediate
Frequency (IF) is 70 MHz nominal.
- Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuits enabling multi-bits, 6-levels, analog/digital signal conversion.
