VENT SAFETY SWITCH
Earlier Low Profile Furnaces used a
manual reset vent safety switch
mounted to the inducer draft blower.
r,
This control shuts off the burners if it
senses abnormal flue gas
temperatures. It is a 24-volt control.
Since this control is redundant to the
pressure switch, later furnaces were
made without it.
Check. Testing this switch uses the
same procedures as for the limit
control. An Ohmmeter check should
read zero Ohms. If an Ohmmeter
reads infinite resistance, press the
manual reset. If the meter does not
now read zero Ohms, or should you
have any problem with this control,
DISCARD the control.
Should there be any nuisance
tripping of this control, follow the
service procedure listed below.
TO REMOVE THE INDUCED DRAFT
VENT CONTROL SWITCH FROM
THE FURNACE AND CONTROL
WIRING CIRCUIT, FOLLOW THESE
INSTRUCTIONS.
A WARNING: DO NOT DISCON-
NECT OR BYPASS ANY OTHER
CONTROL. DOING SO MAY
r
RESULT IN FURNACE MALFUNC-
TION CAUSING FIRE, EXPLOSION,
PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
1. Disconnect power to the furnace.
2. Remove the two (2) flag
connectors from the control.
3. Remove the wiring flag
connector from each wire.
4. Strip approximately 1/2" of
insulation from each wire end.
5. Wire nut the two bare wire ends.
6. Remove the vent control switch
from the induced draft blower
housing and discard it, ensuring
it cannot be reused.
7.
Re-apply furnace power and test
the furnace.
