SHEAR BOLT - FIGURE 131
The cutter head is protected by a 12 X 60, grade 8.8
safety bolt (item 1).
The shear anges are equipped with a grease tting
(item 2) to prevent the shaft and the ange from seizing
when the bolt is sheared.
NOTE: This grease tting holds the 24 balls that pre-
vent the shaft from splitting in two when the
bolts shear. If you happen to loose the grease
tting, make sure the balls are still in place be-
fore installing a new grease tting. If this is not
done, it could lead to serious injuries or damage
to the machine.
NOTE: When the optional friction clutch is used, there
are no safety bolts installed.
