REPAIRING
THE
FUEL
SUPPLY SYSTEM
UNITS
R.epairing
the
Petrol
Tank
Belated
reconditioning
of
the
petrol
tank,
especially
in
the
case
of
petrol
l
eakage,
may
lead
to
grave
consequences
-
inflammation
oi
petrol
that
may
get
on
the
hot
parts
of
the
engine.
Inspect
the
petrol
tank
and
check it for
the
abse
nce of
cracks,
dents,
sca
ling
paint
and
other
defects.
Check
the
petrol
tan
k
for
air-
tightness
under
a
pressure
of
0.4
kgf/cm
2
by
immersing
it
into
water.
In
case
any
cracks
are
detected,
weld
them
up
after
thoroughl
y
\\·ashing
the
tank
with
soda
solutio
n.
The
spots
where
the
paint
has
sca
l
ed
off
should
be th
oroughly
cleaned
and
re
-paint
ed.
R.epairing
the
Petrol
Cock
and
Hoses
The
petrol
cock sh
ould
be checked for
air-tightne
ss
when
t
urned
off,
and
for
full flow of
petrol
into
the
hoses,
when
open.
In
the
case
of
poor
air-tightness,
dismantle
the
pet
rol cock
and
grind
in
the
plug
wilh
paste,
following
which
thoroughly
wa
sh out
lhe
petrol
cock.
Disassemble
the
settler
and
clean ou.t
the
filler,
wash
it in
petrol.
Inspect
the
petrol
h
oses
and
make
sure
they
arc
not
swo
ll
en
with
petrol,
replace
the
h
oses,
if
necessary.

Carburettor
The
carburettor
has to be
repaired
and,
con
s
equentl
y.

when
this
is
indispensable
for
the
correct
and
re
li
able opc-
ralion
of
the
motorcycle.
During
externa
l
inspecti
on of
the
c
arbur
et
-
lor
that
has
been
subjected
to
partial
or
total
disass
e
mbly,
pa
rt
icu
ls
r
c
are
must
be
taken
to check
the
wear
of
the
throtU
c,
air-light
ness
of
the
float,
flatness
of
lhe
carbu
reltor
fastening
flange.
If
the
flange
surface
is
bent,
level it by
filing.
The
float
that
h
as
lost
its
air
-t
ightn
e
ss
must
be
repla
ced by a
new
one.
In
exceptional
cases,
it is
permis
sible lo c
areful
ly
so
lder
the
float
after
first
drying
it.
In
doing
so, avoid
increa
s
ing
the
weight
of
lhe
float
by
excessive
amount
of
solder.
The
j
els
must
be
checked
and,
if
necessary,
se
l
ected
of
proper
~
ize,
using
only
special
devices
.

Th

choke,
inlet
bran

exhaust
pipes

assembly
of
the

torcycle,
and
also
when
any
defects
are
found
