remove

Removal
and
Installation

Connecting
Rod
To
remove
the
connecting
rod, do
th
e
following:
unben
d
the
nibs of
the
co
tter
pins;
take
out
th
e
colte
r
pins;
unscrew
the
nuts
of
lhe
connecti
ng
rod
bolts
by
means
of
a socket
\'iTnch;
take
down
the
connect
ing rod
cap
with
lhe
bush;
n:move
the
co
nn
ectin g
rod
together
with
the
bush.
When
dtsma
nt
ling,
mark
lh
e conn
ect
ing
rods,
connecting
rod
caps
and
bushes
so
as
nol
lo conf
use
them
during
assemb
l
age.
Afte
r
dismanlling,
wash
a
nd
examtne
the
component
parts
and
make
the
necessary
m
eas
ur
e
ment
s.
Re-assemble
Lhe
conneclmg

s in
reverse
order,
laking
i
nlo

that
th
e co
nne
c
ting
rod
big
end
is
not
sy
mm
etr
i
ca
l.
To co
rrectl
y
in

tall
the
connecting
rods
on
the
crankshaft,
the
co
nn
ecti
ng
rod

are
pro
vid
ed
with
lug
s
whtch
must
be
directed
outwa
rds
with
respect
lo
the
cran
ks
haft
web
(in
the
case
of
the
righl-hand
connecting
rod,
the
lug
is
tu
rned
towards
the
flywheel,
in
the
case
of the
left-hand
connecting
rod,
toward
s the
centrifuge).
The
nuts
of
th
e
connecting
rod
bolts
s
hould
be
ti
ghtened
up
and
iocked by
cotter
pins,
provision
being
made
lo
ens
ure
that
the
con-
'lecting
rod
turns
freely
on
the
crankshaft.
