Before
attempting

first
take

apart
into its
basic
units, Yi

cover
assembly,
shafts
assembly
,
casing with
gearshift
mech
an
ism.
Removal of
the
Cover
To remove the cover, proceed
as
follows:
unscr
ew
the
nu
t securing
the
key bolt
of
lhe s
tarting
mechanism
shaft,
drive
out
the
bolt,
using
a soft
metal
ma
ndr
el for the
purpose,
and
remove
the
kick start
er
lever
(starl
ing
mechanism
le
ve
r)
from
lhe
shaft; ho
lding
the
fr
ont
bus
hing
of the
starti
ng
mechanism
shaft
by
mea
ns of a
wrench

o
two
screws
fastening the
bush-
ing,
give
the
bushing
a
half-turn
clockwise,
take
out
the
bushing
togethe
r
with
the
rub
ber
ring
from
the
boss in
the
front
wall
of
the
cas
ing;
unscrew
nine bolts
sec
urin
g
th
e cover to
the
cas
ing
.
Using
an
appli
ance
IlP-1693

ig.
21),
remo\
e
the
cover,
detach
the
paperboard
gasket.
When
rem
ov.
ing
the
cover,
the
secondary
shaft
must
be
kept
in
place in
the
cas
in
g in
order
lo avo
id
damage
to
th
e
gearshift
forks
.
As r
ega
rd
s the
type
of
their
fit,
the
bea
ring
s of
the
rear
su-pports of
the
primary
and
seconda
ry shafts, in most
cases,
are
f
ound
to
be
removed from
the
shafts, t
oge
ther with
-Lh
e cover.
Removal
and
Installation
of
the
Shafts
and
Gears
The

are removed
in
the
following
order:

gear,
take off
the
washe
rs
and
reve
rse
gear
from
lhe seco
ndar
y
shaft;
take
out
the
starting
mechani
sm
shaft
together
with
th
e
quad-
rant,
bushing,
spring
and
s
prin
g
washer;
remove
the
spring,
starting
gea rs
and
two
thru
st
washers
fr
om
the
int
e
rmediate
shaft,
ext
ract
the
fork
shaft
from
the
opening
in
th
e
casing,
wi.
thdraw
the
shaft
with
its
forks from
the
slots
of
the
g
e·a
r-
shift disk;
remove
the
primar
y
shaft
asse
mbly by
lightl
y
tapping
the
front
