the leads of the armature winding are properly soldered to the
commutator bars;
the brushes are not shorted to frame.
The
bru shes must contact the com mutat or with not l ess than
80% of their working surface and must be free of pits. If the brush
surface is badly pitted and its height is less than 10 mm, such a
brush must be replaced .
As
an exception, it is permissible to turn the commutato r wh ose
surface is greatly worn out, following which the slots between the
commutator bars should be cleaned to remove the bronze galling.
A smoot h lustrous film on the commutator surface indicates that
the oper ation is normal, and, consequently, must not be r emoved.
3. GENERATOR f424
The motorcycles "Dnepr" MTIO are fittE!d with a generator f424

excitation and built-in rectifier.

The motorcycles are provided with a two-element current-and-
voltage r egu l ato r consisting of a reve rse-current relay and voltage
regulator. The current-and -volt age regulator operates in conjunc-
tion with generator f414 .
Winding Data

dia. 0.29 mm, 1120 ± 10 turns, counterclockwise winding (top view),
