In order to m

as
follo·ws:
unscrew the plug from the cover
of
a
batter
y cell;
draw in some e
le
ctrolyte with lhe densimeter sy
ring
e;
by
mea ns of a thermomete
r,
measure the tempe
ratur
e of the elec-
trolyte in the cell;
determine the speci
fi
c gra vity of electrolyte on the basis of densi-
meter rea
eli

gs
corrected for temper a ture.
The level
of
electrolyte over

e plates shou ld be ·
measured
by
means
of
a gl ass tubule
in
serted into the filling hole
of
eac
h
ce
ll
,
for w

ch purpose proceed as

llows:
unscrew the p

om the battery cell cover;
lower the tubule until it is aga

st the protective shield;
close
lhe upper

d with the finger;
take out the tubule.
The level
of
the electrolyte must be

to 12 mm above the pro-

shield.
