In the following table, all parameters (B) in
SIMV/PS mode, together with the corresponding
setting ranges and factory settings, are listed.
The respiratory rate Freq defines the time between
the individual volume-controlled breaths. The
synchronization of the mechanical breaths is done
with a trigger sensitivity (Trigger) that is activated
a specific time before administering a new
mechanical breath: 5 seconds for respiratory rates
(Freq) below 12 bpm (1/min). For higher
respiratory rates, the synchronization is done
immediately after the preceding expiration.
Between these mandatory breaths, the patient can
breathe spontaneously. Mandatory breaths are
synchronized with the spontaneous breaths of the
patient. These spontaneous breaths can be
supported with ∆PPS.
The lower alarm limit of the airway pressure PAW
low is used for the airway pressure monitoring to
detect apnea (disconnection) and continuous
pressure.
If the pressure waveform does not cross the
pressure threshold either from above or below, an
alarm is sounded.
