EN 61800-3 defines the following:
• The first environment is one that includes residential premises. It
also includes establishments directly connected without intermediate
transformers to a low-voltage power supply network which supplies
buildings used for residential purposes.
• The second environment is one that includes all establishments
other than those directly connected to a low-voltage power supply
network which supplies buildings used for residential purposes.
• Restricted distribution is defined as a mode of sales distribution in
which the manufacturer restricts the supply of equipment to
suppliers, customers or users who separately or jointly have
technical competence in the EMC requirements of the application of
drives.
Shared external filters for multiple drives
When more than one drive is used in the same enclosure, some cost
saving is possible by sharing a single filter of suitable current rating
between several drives. Tests have shown that combinations of drives
with a single filter are able to meet the same emission standard as a
single drive, provided that all filters and drives are mounted on the same
metal plate. Because of the unpredictable effect of the additional wiring
and the need for separate fuses for the drives on the drive side of the
filter, this arrangement is not recommended where strict compliance with
a specific standard is required, unless emission tests can be carried out.
