1 Read primary process
variable

Factory setting:
Primary process variable = Volume flow

Manufacturer-specific units are represented
using the HART unit code “240”.
2 Read the primary process
variable as current in mA and
percentage of the set meas-
uring range
Access type = read
none Bytes 0-3: actual current of the primary
process variable in mA
Bytes 4-7: Percentage of the set measuring
range
Factory setting:
Primary process variable = Volume flow

You can set the assignment of device variables
to process variables using Command 51.
3 Read the primary process
variable as current in mA and
four (preset using Command
51) dynamic process varia-
bles
Access type = read
none 24 bytes are sent as a response:
Bytes 0-3: primary process variable current
in mA
Byte 4: HART unit code of the primary proc-
ess variable
Bytes 5-8: Primary process variable

process variable
