5.4.5 Switching HART write protection on and off
A jumper on the I/O board provides the means of activating or deactivating HART write
protection.

Warning:
• Risk of electric shock. Exposed components carry dangerous voltages. Make sure
that the power supply is switched off before you remove the cover of the electronics
compartment.
• Wait at least 10 minutes for heat to dissipate before opening an Ex-rated device.
1. Switch off power supply.
2. Remove the I/O board → Page 112, 114
3. Switch HART write protection on or off, as applicable, by means of the jumper
(Fig. 46).
4. Installation of the I/O board is the reverse of the removal procedure.

1 HART write protection OFF (default), that is: HART protocol unlocked.
2 HART write protection ON , that is: HART protocol locked.
