7. Select the operating mode (GSD file) which should be used for cyclic communication with the
PROFIBUS master.
BASIC FUNCTION (G) → PROFIBUS DP (GBA) → OPERATION (614)
→ SELECTION GSD (6140) → Select:
– MANUFACT. SPEC. (factory setting): Promass 83 measuring device is operated in the
manufacturer-specific mode.
– MANUFACT V2.0: Promass 83 is used as the replacement for the previous Promass 63
model (compatibility mode).
– GSD PROFILE: Promass 83 is operated in the Profile mode.

For PROFIBUS network configuration, make sure that the right GSD file of the measuring
device is used for the selected operating mode:
