• StationAddressistheMACaddressofthewirelessclient.
• Authenticateddisplaysifthestationhasbeenauthenticated.Thetwobasicmethodsof
authenticationsupportedfor802.11wirelessnetworksare“opensystem”and“sharedkey.”
Open‐systemauthenticationacceptsanyclientattempting toconnecttotheaccesspoint
withoutverifying
itsidentity.Theshared‐keyapproachusesWiredEquivalentPrivacy(WEP)
toverifyclientidentitybydistributingasharedkeytostationsbeforeattempting
authentication.
• Associateddisplaysifthestationhasbeensuccessfullyassociatedwiththeaccesspoint.Once
authenticationiscompleted,stationscanassociatewiththecurrentaccesspoint,or
reassociate
withanewaccesspoint.Theassociationprocedureallowsthewirelesssystemtotrackthe
locationofeachmobileclient,andensurethatframesdestinedforeachclientareforwardedto
theappropriateaccesspoint.
• ForwardingAlloweddisplaysifthestationhaspassed802.11authenticati on,andisnow
allowed
toforwardtraffictotheaccesspoint.

– WPA‐AES–usedforWPA/WPa2withAEScipher.
