• Path cost takes precedence over port priority.
• When spanning-tree path-cost-method is set to short, the maximum
value for path cost is 65,535.
Example
ecn330(config)# ecn port 1 spanning-tree cost 20000
11.6.3.3.2 edge-port
Use this command to specify an interface as an edge port.
Command level: ecn330(config)#.
Syntax
ecn port <port> spanning-tree edge-port {en-
able|disable}
Arguments:
• port <port> - ECN port number 1-27.
Default Setting
Disabled.
Command Usage
This option can be enabled if an interface is attached to a LAN segment
that is at the end of a bridged LAN or to an end node. Since end nodes
cannot cause forwarding loops, they can pass directly through to the span-
ning tree forwarding state. Specifying Edge Ports provides quicker conver-
gence for devices such as workstations or servers, retains the current for-
warding database to reduce the amount of frame flooding required to re-
build address tables during reconfiguration events, does not cause the
spanning tree to initiate reconfiguration when the interface changes state,
and also overcomes other STA-related timeout problems. However, re-
member that Edge Port should only be enabled for ports connected to an
end-node device. If the port is connected to an EDN312x the edge port
must be enabled.
This command has the same effect as spanning-tree port-fast.
