Symptom Action
Cannot connect using Tel-
net or SNMP software
Be sure the agent is configured with a valid IP address, subnet mask
and default gateway.
If trying to connect to the agent using the IP address for a tagged
VLAN group, the management station must include the appropriate tag
in its transmitted frames.
Check that there is a valid network connection to the switch and that
the port being used has not been disabled.
Check network cabling between the management station and the
switch.
If a Telnet session cannot connect, the switch may have exceeded the
maximum number of concurrent Telnet sessions permitted. Try con-
necting again at a later time.
Cannot access the on-
board configuration pro-
gram through a serial port
connection
Be sure the terminal emulator program is set to VT100 compatible, 8
data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and 9600 bps.
Check that the null-modem serial cable conforms to the pin-out con-
nections provided in section 2.2.5 on page 6.
