DC GENERATION
1. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The primary source of electrical energy is the generator with a power of 250 W with an external
rectifier. The secondary source of electrical energy is the battery FG Forte 12150 (12 V / 15 Ah) that is
located in the engine compartment on the firewall. The battery is used for starting the engine and in
the case of a generator failure is serves as an emergency source of electrical energy. Optionally, it is
possible to install the battery FG Forte 12200 (12 V / 20 Ah).
After switching the MASTER SWITCH and by turning the key in the switch box to the START position,
the starter is activated. The starter is electrically powered from the battery. After starting the engine
and reaching the idle, the generator starts supplying electrical current to the on-board network.
A. Indication of electrical system
(1) Airplanes equipped with analog instruments
The value of electrical system voltage is indicated on the analog voltmeter (if installed –
an optional installation).
(2) Airplanes equipped with the Dynon SkyView system or Garmin G3X system
The values of voltage and current of the electrical system are indicated on the EMS
screen of the Dynon SkyView system or on the EIS screen of the G3X system. The
sensor of electrical current (a shunt) is located on the right behind the instrument panel in
the harness bracket.
The knife fuses (1 A) that protect the shunt circuits are located on the right behind the
instrument panel in the harness bracket (next to the shunt).
B. Signalization of electrical system
The condition of the generators GEN and AUX. GEN (if installed) is indicated by means of the
red signaling lights CHARGING and AUX. CHARG. (if installed) in the left upper part of the
instrument panel (Section 31-50). The red signaling light CHARGING indicates generator
failure, the red signaling light AUX. CHARG. indicates auxiliary generator failure (if installed).
NOTE
The indication of AUX. CHARG. occurs also as a consequence
of a low engine speed (less than 2500 RPM). The signaling
lights CHARGING and AUX. CHARG. indicate a failure
correctly only in the case when the switches GEN, AUX. GEN
are on (if installed).
C. Generator
The generator is part of the engine and is located in its rear section. The rectifier is located on
the firewall. The capacitor 22 mF / 25 V is parallelly connected to the outlet of the rectifier.
(1) Technical parameters of the generator:
Maximum output voltage / current 14 V / 20 A at 5000 RPM
