E. External alternator
Maintenance type: Line
Personnel qualification: Independent verification personnel qualified in accordance with
Part 66 or higher

(1) Removal external alternator
(a) Switch the electrical network off and disconnect the battery.
(b) Remove the engine cowlings (Section 71-10).
(c) Unscrew and remove the nut (3, Fig. 24-7) with the washer (4) attaching the cable
(2) to the alternator (1) and disconnect the connector (5); the connector is
equipped with a safety lock. After pressing down the safety lock, it is possible to
take it out from the socket.
(d) Loosen the bolts (6; 8; 15) and release the belt (11).
(e) Unscrew and remove the bolt (6) and the washers (9; 10).
(f) Hold the alternator, unscrew the bolt (6) and remove the alternator (1) and the
washer (7).
(2) Installation external alternator
(a) Place the alternator (1, Fig. 24-7) with the washer (7) to the bracket (12) and screw
the bolt (6).
(b) Put the tension bar (16) to the alternator (1) and screw the bolt (8) with the
washers (9; 10).
(c) Install the belt (11).
(d) Tension the belt (see par. 2 E. (3)).
(e) Connect the connector (5); push the connector safety lock before inserting it into
the socket.
(f) Slide the cable eye (2) on the screw of the contact on the alternator (1).
(g) Put on the washer (5) and screw on the nut (4); tighten the nut using a torque of 4
Nm.
(h) Install the engine cowlings (Section 71-10).
(i) Connect the battery, switch the electrical network on.
(j) Start the engine, do the engine test and check the function of the alternator.
