4. GROUND GUST
Ground gusts are defined as conditions where a parked or taxiing airplane is exposed to side, aft
quartering, or aft wind gusts exceeding 40 knots. Such conditions can cause control system damage
due to rapid oscillation and/or slamming of the control surfaces against system stops.
After every ground gust inspect the airplane in the following range:

Ch. 27 Check all control systems for function and free
movement.
Ch. 27 Check control stops for condition and security.

3. FUSELAGE

Check fuselage structure / skin for condition,
especially in the area of wing attachments and in the
rear part of the fuselage.
Ch. 27 Check control, pulleys and levers for condition.
27-20 Check rudder cables for condition.
4. TAIL UNIT
Kap. 55 Check tail unit structure / skin for condition.
55-10 Check attachment stabilizer-fuselage for condition.
55-10 Check play of attachments move the stabilizer
upward/downward, frontward/rearward.

Check rudder and elevator hinges for condition and
free movement.
