(b) If you install a new light, insert on the wires of the light the baseplate (3), crimp new
contacts and install the connector (refer to the table Recommended tools and
material).
NOTE
Refer to the wiring diagram in Chapter 91.
(c) Put the connector with wires (8) into the holes in the wingtip (9), align the baseplate
(3) with the wingtip and attach it with screws (6).
(d) Align the body (1) with the baseplate (3) and attach it with screws (5).
CAUTION
DO NOT TOUCH THE LED LENS SURFACE WITH EITHER
FINGERS OR SHARP OBJECTS. THIS COULD SOIL AND/OR
DAMAGE THE LENS AND AFFECT THE OPTICAL
PERFORMANCE OF THE LEDS.
(e) Put the lens (4) on the body (1).
(f) Align the retainer (2) with the body (1) and lens (3) and attach it with screws (7).
(g) Connect the connector with wires (8) to the harness.
(h) Use the cleaning agent to remove the grease from the contact surface intended for
application of sealant.
(i) Seal the gap between the baseplate (3) and the wing tip (9) with sealant.
(j) Install the cover W4L or W4R (Fig. 06-2).
(k) Connect the battery, switch the electrical network on and check function of the
position lights and the strobe light.
(3) Inspection / check – position / strobe lights
(a) Inspect the LED’s. If any one LED fails, the unit must be repaired or replaced.
NOTE
To reduce eye strain use an optical filter such as dark glasses
or a blue covering dome during LED inspection.
(b) Inspect the lens. Replace if there is excessive scratching, discoloration or cracking.
