1. GENERAL – PREPARATORY WORKS
Determine where the lightning struck the airplane and
inspect the surrounding area carefully for damage.
Determine where the lightning exited the airplane and
inspect the surrounding area carefully for damage.
From the determination of the entry and exit points, a
probable electrical path of the lightning through the
airplane can be established. The airplane structure
along this path should be carefully inspected.
06-40 Remove an open all required covers and hatches.

Engine cowlings
71-10 Check cowlings for condition and evidence of
damage.
Engine mount
71-20 Check engine mount for condition.
71-20 Check rubber silentblocks for condition.
Engine air intake
71-60 Check airbox for condition.
76-10 Check carburetor control for condition.
Battery
24-30 Check battery for condition and evidence of damage.
24-30 Check cables for condition and evidence of damage.
Wiring of engine
Check wires and harness for condition, integrity,
connections and evidence of damage.
Fuel system
28-20 Check hoses and tubes for condition and evidence of
damage.
28-20 Check fuel system for leaks.
