10 Maintenance, Warranty and Service
10.1 Resetting and Reinitializing
In the rare case where the 6030 becomes completely stuck (static display and no response to the keypad) you
will have to reset the instrument. To do this, remove all four batteries for 1 hour.
Reinitializing the instrument returns the 6030 memory to the state in which it left the factory (i.e., all user
settings, flight records, waypoints and routes are cleared). Occasionally the need may arise to completely clear
the EEPROM memory, such as after a firmware upgrade or if the 6030 starts to behave unusually. To reinitialize
the 6030 go to Menu>Clear/Initialize memory>Initialize EEPROM, press the OK key, change the No to Yes,
press OK. The Information Field will show the progress; wait for all sectors to clear before pressing any keys.
10.2 Water Damage
If water enters the 6030, damage is likely and the warranty is void. To minimize the extent of the damage the
batteries should be removed immediately to prevent destructive short-circuit. The following steps should be
performed as soon as reasonably possible.
1. Carefully open the housing being careful to not pull on any of battery leads or ribbon cables.
2. Remove the keypad ribbon cables from the connectors on the circuit board.
3. If salt water entered the housing, rinse all affected areas with clean, fresh water.
4. Dry the instrument carefully with warm air (hair dryer 140ºF max).
5. Return the instrument to Flytec USA or Flytec AG for service
10.3 Warranty
The 6030 is warranted against material and manufacturing defects for two years. Physical damage such as a
broken housing or display window, as well as damage resulting from abuse, battery leakage, improper care,
exposure to excessive heat or opening the housing are excluded from this warranty. In the event a defect is
encountered during the two-year warranty period, please contact FLYTEC for service instructions. Please
carefully read this operation manual before you contact FLYTEC for operation or service issues.
WARNING: In rare cases the 6030 may not provide any data at all, or the data provided may be incorrect.
Flytec will not be held responsible for any claims resulting from missing or incorrect data. Flytec will not be
held responsible for any damage claims arising from a malfunctioning unit. Responsibility for ensuring the
safe execution of flights lies with the pilot alone.
Never place the instrument into a microwave oven!
Microwaves will destroy the instrument immediately!
