Connecting external devices
Always refer to the safety information provided in "Imp ortant notes", Page 13 before
connecting or disconnecting any devices to or from your notebook.
Always read the documentation supplied with the device you wish to connect.
Never connect or disconnect cables during a thunderstorm.
Never pull at a cable when disconnecting it. Always gra sp the plug.
Follow the steps below in order, when connect ing or disconnecting
devices to your notebook:
With some devices such as USB devices, it is not necessary to switch off
the notebook and the device before c onnecting/disconn ecting. For m ore
information about whether or not devices need to b e switched off, ple ase refer
to the documentation supplied with the extern al device.
Some of the extern al devices require special drivers (see the o perating
system and external device documenta tion).
Connecting dev ices to the notebook
1. Turn off your no tebook an d all externa l devices.
2. U nplug your notebook and al
l devices from the mains sockets.
3. C onnect the cables for your external device s following the instructions.
4. Plug all power cables into t
he mains s ocket s.
