Laundry can be used as a pre-cleaning step for the Progressa top mattress cover. Launder the cover,
then follow the Cleaning and Disinfection instructions.
Machine wash the top cover as follows:
1. Unzip and remove the top cover from the mattress.
2. Machine wash the topper per facility protocol.
3. Rinse the topper thoroughly in clean water.
4. Use the lowest temperature setting of the dryer to dry the topper. Do not use high temperatures.
It is important to remove all visible soil from all areas before continuing to remove non-visible soil.
b. With a new wiping cloth soaked in an approved cleaner/disinfectant, use firm pressure to wipe
all surfaces of the bed and mattress (including laundered covers). Use a new wiping cloth as
often as necessary. Make sure the following items are cleaned:
•Siderails
• Headboard and footboard
• Areas between the footboard and mattress, headboard and mattress, and siderails and
mattress.
• Upper frame
•Base frame
•Power cord
• Patient pendant (handheld remote) and pendant cord
• Accessories
• Mattress - top and bottom
• To raise the mattress to clean underneath, find the mattress retention knobs on the underside
of the mattress, and slide the knobs to the center of bed.
– Clean the interface connector assembly and the mattress sleeve area indicated in the
picture below. Do not disconnect the connector.
c. Examine the following for damage:
• Top mattress cover
• Bottom mattress cover and white attachment knobs
•Zipper closure
d. The damaged items should be replaced.
STEP 2: Disinfection
a. With a new wiping cloth soaked in an approved cleaner/disinfectant, use light pressure to wipe
all exterior surfaces of the bed previously cleaned.
