c. REASSEMBLY
1) Apply gear oil to the outer surface of a new needle bearing.
2) Drive the 7/8 x 1-1/8 x 1 needle bearing into the gear case
up to the mark made on the special tool during vertical
shaft/bevel gear removal using the same tools used for
removal.

Driver handle, 15 x 280 mm 07949-3710001
Attachment, 24 x 26 mm 07746-0010700
Pilot, 22 mm 07746-0041000
3) After installation, check that the bottom surface of the
needle bearing is flush with the bottom of the gear case.

4) Install a new forward bevel gear shim in the gear case
assembly.
• When the gear case or bearing is replaced with a new
one, perform shim adjustment and select the appropriate
shim accordingly (P. 11-43).
5) Apply gear oil to the outer surface of a new bearing [outer
race].
6) Install the 32 x 58 x 17 mm bearing [outer race] in the gear
case assembly using the special tools as shown.
• Install the bearing [outer race] with the larger I.D. side
toward the forward bevel gear.
