PINION GEAR
SHIM
7) Install a new pinion gear shim in the gear case assembly.
• When the gear case, vertical shaft or the bearing is
replaced with a new one, perform shim adjustment and
select the appropriate shim accordingly (P. 11-40).
8) Apply gear oil to the outer surface of the new bearing
[outer race].
9) Drive the 25 x 47 x 15 mm bearing [outer race] into the gear
case assembly using the special tools as shown.
• Install the bearing [outer race] with the larger I.D. side
toward the water pump housing.

10) Apply gear oil to the inner wall and roller of the bearing
[inner race]. Install the 32 x 58 x 17 mm bearing [inner race]
on the forward bevel gear.
11) Install the forward bevel gear/bearing assembly in the gear
case assembly.
