Figure 24. Main Power Switch and Supply Connections
NOTE
The ground must be connected to an equipment grounding conductor or Protective
Earth for safe operation.
DANGER
Electrocution danger. Before removing the Main Power Switch cover or connecting
line power, verify that the external AC supply power is disconnected at the source
in accordance with your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedures.
5.2.2. Emergency Power-Off (EPO) option
Some facilities require equipment like the ACM 150 monitor to have an EPO (or panic)
switch. The user can add an EPO switch between the external breaker/switch and the
Main Power Switch.
NOTE
The ACM 150 monitor is a life-safety monitor intended to operate under virtually
all conditions. An EPO switch is not generally recommended because
unauthorized personnel might push it and take the monitor offline when it should
be online.
In the Off position, the Main Power Switch disconnects AC line power from all
internal parts and assemblies.
5.2.3. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) disconnect
5.2.3.1.
Integral LOTO
CE safety standards require the AC power line to be hard-wired inside the conduit through
a Lockout/Tagout disconnect. The Main Power Switch, Figure 24, provides this LOTO
disconnect. A key lock may be added When switched to the off position.
5.2.3.2.
External LOTO
An external LOTO power disconnect is only necessary when the power terminal strip
inside the Main Power Switch is accessed. The appropriate LOTO method depends on
the AC wiring option used. Follow your company procedures, or if none are established,
follow these recommendations for a circuit breaker or fused disconnect box: turn the power
off at the box, close it, and lock it, typically using a padlock.
