Unit fails to respond to SHC1
Handheld Interrogator
Incorrect connection (may display
Comms Error 100)
1. Check that the SHC1 Handheld Interrogator is
correctly plugged into the DVC100 or that the SHC
Protection device is connected correctly (see Use of
the SHC1 Handheld Interrogator).
Incorrect software 1. Searchpoint Optima Plus only works with SHC1
Handheld Interrogator software version 3v0 and above.
Check software version.
2. If incorrect, contact Honeywell Analytics for the
latest version of SHC1 Handheld Interrogator software.
Incorrect mode (may display
Comms Error 99)
1. Switch on the SHC1 Handheld Interrogator and
check the display. It should show Optima+ (not Optima
or Excel).
2. If incorrect, change the operating mode to Optima+
(see Use of the SHC1 Handheld Interrogator).
Battery failed 1. Check the battery in the SHC1 Handheld
Interrogator.
2. If necessary, replace the battery (see Use of the
SHC1 Handheld Interrogator).
Interference from HART
®
communication
The HART
®
communication takes precedence over the
RS485 communication used by the SHC1 Handheld
Interrogator. If the Searchpoint Optima Plus is being
polled simultaneously by a HART
®
host, temporary
communication errors may be experienced.
Unit fails to respond to HART
®
communications
HART
®
option not tted 1. Check that the unit has the optional HART
®
communications tted (part number ends in H)
Incorrect Device Description le 1. Check that the correct Device Description le is
loaded and selected.
Problem with receiving the
4 – 20 mA signal
1. Check cables and connections to the unit, especially
the 4-20 mA loop connections.
2. Check the 4 – 20 mA loop for noise
Unit is in FAULT condition and the
output is less than 1 mA
1. HART
®
communications will not function when the
output current is less than 1 mA.
2. Congure the unit to output 1 mA when in Fault
(see Commissioning, Congure HART
®
Operation
during Fault)
Note:Itmaybenecessarytore-cyclethe
power to the unit, and change the setting
during the 60 s warm up period while the unit
is in Inhibit.
HART
®
host is polling for a value
that is not set
1. HART
®
hosts typically poll Device Address, Device
Tag, Transmitter ID or Unique Device ID to locate a eld
device.
2. Change the setting to use Device Address (this is
always set in the unit).
