8. Thedisplaynowshowsthecurrentgasandthenewgas.Repeatsteps4to6untilthecorrectnewgas
is found.
9. ToconrmthechangetothenewgasselectAccept Choose Gas.
10.HighlightAccept Selection and press Enter. (Alternatively, to keep the current gas, select
Abort Selection and press Enter).
11.Thedisplaywillshowaconrmationmessage,pressOK.
12.Thedisplaywillshowthemessage“Nospecicerror”,pressOK.
13. Press Back twice to return to the Device Setup menu.
The Searchpoint Optima Plus must now be calibrated using the new target gas. Use a cylinder of the target
gas, of approximately 50 %FSD, with an accuracy of at least ± 2 %.
Do not calibrate Searchpoint Optima Plus during periods of very high or low atmospheric pressure, very
strong winds or storms.
Caution: Gas readings will be generated during this procedure. The 4-20 mA output will be inhibited
automatically. If the procedure is aborted, ensure that the unit is not left in Inhibit mode.
Note: The unit should be powered up for 1 hour before a calibration is done.
Note: The calibration routine will timeout after 2 minutes of inactivity.
14.Usinga½inch/13mmA/Fopenendedspanner,unscrewthetworetainingnutsandremovethe
Standard Weather Protection from the Searchpoint Optima Plus.
15. Fit a Calibration Cap to the Searchpoint Optima Plus. Ensure it is pushed on fully.
16. Select Calibrate
17. Select Gas Calibration.
18.Thedisplayshowsawarningmessage,press OK.
19. Ensure that there is zero gas present in the vicinity of the Searchpoint Optima Plus. If necessary, apply
zerogasatarateof1–1.5litresperminute.
20. When the gas reading on the display is stable press OK to initiate the Zero Calibration and then wait
for approximately 15 s. The 4-20 mA output will be inhibited automatically at this time.
21. The display shows a message that the Zero Calibration was successful and offers to exit without a
Span Calibration. Select No and press Enter.
22. Enter the concentration of the span calibration gas and press Enter.
23.Applycalibrationgasatarateof1–1.5litresperminute.Waitforthegasreadingtostabilise
(~30-60s),thenpressOK to initiate the Span Calibration and then wait for approximately 15 s.
24. The display shows a message that the Span Calibration was successful. Remove the Calibration Cap
 andwaitforthetestgastoclear(~30s).
25. Ensure that the gas reading has returned to zero. Press OK to release the 4-20 mA output.
26. The display shows a note that the Searchpoint Optima Plus will return to normal operation, press OK.
27. Return to the Welcome screen.
28.RettheStandardWeatherProtectionandthetworetainingnuts.
