Confirming installation preparations
Before installing an HP 12500 switch, verify that:
• You have read "Preparing for installation" carefully and the installation site meets all the
requirements.
• You have all the items listed in the packing list, and the switch was not damaged during shipment.
If anything is damaged or missing, contact the sales agent or customer representative immediately.

Installing an impedance carrier (optional)
An impedance carrier is shipped with each 12508 and 12518 switch. You can install the impedance
carrier at the rear of the chassis (where a ventilation panel is located) to block the airflow from entering
the rear of the chassis.
Install an impedance carrier where switches adopt front to rear airflow.
To install an impedance carrier:
1. Loosen the captive screws on the ventilation panel to remove it.
2. Install the impedance carrier, and fasten the captive screws on the impedance carrier.
