7 Start-up
7.1 Adaptation of the shoulder belt
The shoulder belt must be attached as follows:
■ Push the belt of the carrying strap from the top approx.. 10 cm through the loop to be found on the
backside of the camera.
■ Route the loose end of the strap through the bottom sleeve and then firmly push the sleeve towards
the loop on the backside of the camera.
■ Loosen the longer end of the strap in the buckle.
■ Then, also route the short end of the belt through the buckle and pull the strap tight so that only one
belt loop is visible.
■ Now, also pull the long, upper end of the strap tightly through the buckle so that no belt loop is visible.
The loose end of the carrying strap should always protrude freely from the buckle by ≥ 5cm!
7.2 Adaptation of the hand strap
The VarioCAM
®
HD is designed as highly portable system for single-hand operation. Initially, adjust the
hand strap attached to the handle piece as required. For this, open the loop of the hand strap and adjust
the length of the belt strap in such a way that you can comfortably access the controls with your fingers.
Then, close the hook and loop fastener of the loop,
7.3 Using a tripod*
The thermography camera is equipped with a 1/4" photo thread (DIN 4503) on the bottom of the housing.
In order to achieve rigid camera images. particularly for the Resolution Enhancement (RE) mode. it is
recommendable to fix the VarioCAM
®
HD to a tripod*.
Please observe the maximum penetration depth of the photo thread of 4.5 mm (DIN 4503).
7.4 Connecting a power supply
When using a rechargeable battery, the battery must be placed on the adapter plate. Push down the
rechargeable battery until it engages. In this, the rechargeable battery must be pushed slightly to the front
towards the lens. In order to use the VarioCAM
®
HD, please only use the genuine SONY
®
rechargeable
batteries NP-QM91D.
The wall plug transformer* is connected to the 14-pin socket on the right-hand side of the backside of the
thermography system.
