Theremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeaturesareintegratedfunctionsoftheIntegrated
ManagementModuleII(IMM2).
Theremotepresencefeatureprovidesthefollowingfunctions:
•Remotelyviewingvideowithgraphicsresolutionsupto1600x1200at75Hz,regardlessofthesystem
state
•Remotelyaccessingtheserver,usingthekeyboardandmousefromaremoteclient
•MappingtheCDorDVDdrive,diskettedrive,andUSBflashdriveonaremoteclient,andmappingISO
anddisketteimagefilesasvirtualdrivesthatareavailableforusebytheserver
•UploadingadisketteimagetotheIMM2memoryandmappingittotheserverasavirtualdrive
Theblue-screencapturefeaturecapturesthevideodisplaycontentsbeforetheIMM2restartsthe
serverwhentheIMM2detectsanoperating-systemhangcondition.Asystemadministratorcanusethe
blue-screencapturetoassistindeterminingthecauseofthehangcondition.
ObtainingtheIMM2hostname
UsethisinformationtoobtaintheIMM2hostname.
IfyouareloggingontotheIMM2forthefirsttimeafterinstallation,theIMM2defaultstoDHCP.IfaDHCP
serverisnotavailable,theIMM2usesastaticIPaddressof192.168.70.125.ThedefaultIPv4hostnameis
“IMM-”(plusthelast12charactersontheIMM2MACaddress).Thedefaulthostnamealsocomesonthe
IMM2networkaccesstagthatcomesattachedtothepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.TheIMM2
networkaccesstagprovidesthedefaulthostnameoftheIMM2anddoesnotrequireyoutostarttheserver.
TheIPv6link-localaddress(LLA)isderivedfromtheIMM2defaulthostname.TheIMM2LLAisontheIMM2
networkaccesstagisonthepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.Toderivethelink-localaddress,
completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Takethelast12charactersontheIMM2MACaddress(forexample,5CF3FC5EAAD0).
Step2.Separatethenumberintopairsofhexadecimalcharacters(forexample,5C:F3:FC:5E:AA:D0).
Step3.Separatethefirstsixandlastsixhexadecimalcharacters.
Step4.Add“FF”and“FE”inthemiddleofthe12characters(forexample,5CF3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step5.Convertthefirstpairofhexadecimalcharacterstobinary(forexample,5=0101,C=1100,which
resultsin01011100F3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step6.Flipthe7thbinarycharacterfromleft(0to1or1to0),whichresultsin01011110F3FFFE5EAAD0.
