RemovingaDIMM
Usethisinformationtoremoveamemorymodule.
Readthesafetyinformationin“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”onpage31.
Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoslidetheserveroutfromtherack
enclosure,turnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremoveadualinlinememorymodule(DIMM),completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage157).
Step2.Removetheairbaffleifinstalled(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage159).
Step3.CarefullyopentheretainingclipsoneachendoftheDIMMconnectorandremovetheDIMM.
Attention:ToavoidbreakingtheretainingclipsordamagingtheDIMMconnectors,handlethe
clipsgently.
