•Allbanksofmemoryareenabled.Theservermighthaveautomatically
disabledamemorybankwhenitdetectedaproblem,oramemorybank
mighthavebeenmanuallydisabled.
•Thereisnomemorymismatchwhentheserverisattheminimummemory
configuration.
2.ReseattheDIMMs,andthenrestarttheserver.
3.CheckthePOSTerrorlog:
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbyasystems-managementinterrupt(SMI),replace
theDIMM.
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbytheuserorbyPOST,reseattheDIMM;then,run
theSetuputilityandenabletheDIMM.
4.CheckthatallDIMMsareinitializedintheSetuputility;then,runmemory
diagnostics(see“RunningDSAPrebootdiagnosticprograms”onpage126).
5.Makesurethatthereisnomemorymismatchwhentheserverisattheminimum
memoryconfiguration.
6.AddonepairofDIMMsatatime,makingsurethattheDIMMsineachpair
match.
7.ReseattheDIMM.
8.Re-enableallDIMMsusingtheSetuputility,andthenrestarttheserver.
9.Replacethefollowingcomponentsoneatatime,intheordershown,restarting
theservereachtime:
a.DIMMs
b.(Trainedtechnicianonly)Replacethesystemboard
MultiplerowsofDIMMsina
branchareidentifiedasfailing.
Note:EachtimeyouinstallorremoveaDIMM,youmustdisconnecttheserverfrom
thepowersource;then,wait10secondsbeforerestartingtheserver.
1.ReseattheDIMMs;then,restarttheserver.
2.ReplacethefailingDIMM.
